Look at the Fifa World Cup

Image: Opening Ceremony: taken
from www. fifa.com.
The Fifa World Cup that took place a month ago, and yet it feels like a happened a long time ago in my opinion, maybe this is because my team lost… as they were the hosting nation (Brazil). Non-the less looking back on the festivities that took place I feel that it wasn’t up to World Cup standards if I may so, to start of the opening ceremony was rather weak and did not capture the essence of Brazil entirely compared to ours that took place in South Africa, even the closing ceremony in Brazil was not interesting and looked like a cheap production play.

The positive aspects that came from the World Cup in Brazil was the soccer ball, yes! The soccer ball had no controversies, unlike the Jabulani ball that had strikers angered as it never followed the strikers intended direction, except that Diego Forlan and Keisuke Honda enjoyed playing with that ball. Alright then enough bad mouthing the Fifa World Cup ceremony- the main reason why we watched the World Cup was to see world class football, and top players representing their respective countries… and represent is what they did, however I feel that the players we expected to perform as they normally do in their club football teams did not do so, such as; Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, and David Luiz to mention but a few but the players who we didn’t expect to perform played as if they have got something to prove or maybe they wanted to be noticed by potential new clubs they may have wanted to join, I feel that they were playing so hard for their countries and the glory  that came with winning the World Cup.

A beautiful factor that contributed to the World Cup is that there was unity amongst locals and tourists who came to stadiums and fan parks in their numbers with one common objective which was of course soccer, the stadiums were in good condition of which seven were newly built and five renovated that had passionate, loyal and loud fans that had no hooligans thankfully.

The new technological systems were very helpful in this World Cup such as the Goal LineTechnology which is a system used to determine if the ball slightly crossed the goal line with the assistance of electronic devices which at the same time helps the referee in awarding the goal or not. Another new method used was the vanishing spray that referees used to spray foam that vanished after a while to somewhat control the positon of players defending the free kick and placement of the soccer ball that is ready to be kicked towards the opposing side of the net. I can truly say that I did enjoy the Fifa World Cup, what about you… comment your opinions.

The Social Media Influencer

The words Social Media Influencer are those that we are familiar with in the study of Public Relations and Communication, but do we actually know what a social media influencer is, what they do and more especially who are the social media influencers to look out for.

Known as Thato Sikwane to family and close friends, we know him as DJ Fresh who is a radio presenter on 5FM and entrepreneur, he is one of South Africa’s biggest social media influencer as he posts his opinions on Twitter, and keeping his followers up-to-date with current issues in society both being serious and entertaining. His success on social media is that he is always twitting, commenting on other tweets and doing this every day. More importantly is that he is accessible on his personal twitter account, making him a social media influencer to look out for.

·         Aaron Lee

Another Social Media Influencer to look out for is Aaron Lee, who has high experience in the Social Media industry. In my opinion he is one of the rising social media influencers as he is known to stand out by creating trigger topics for followers on tweeter to comment on, which I honestly feel is relevant in the Public Relations industry for both professionals and students that are within the P.R. industry. The websites encompasses both humour and factual information on his tweeter page and blog which is very user friendly for all. I recommend that and personally encourage you to visit www.askaaronlee.com to see more of Lee has to offer.

·         Eric T. Tung

Not only in my opinion is Eric a media influencer, he is a Senior Social Media expert with numerous social media platforms that he specialises in. He has had outstanding awards that make him a top social media influencer to look out for.

·         Kaite Laird

Kaite Laird is a social media manager at www.Blinds.com, she is an influencer in my opinion to look out for because she is an avid blogger on her personal blog site which is www.hellokittie.com. Kaite can help up-coming media entrepreneurs and students alike who have a keen interest in Media P.R and communication, so Laird makes it as an influencer.

She is “I” would say a passionate “Facebooker” with marketing expertise in which she tries to engage business people and ordinary Facebook account holders to increase or rather maximise Facebook as a tool for self and business exposure.
