The words Social Media Influencer are those that we are
familiar with in the study of Public Relations and Communication, but do we
actually know what a social media influencer is, what they do and more
especially who are the social media influencers to look out for.

Known
as Thato Sikwane to family and close friends, we know him as DJ Fresh who is a
radio presenter on 5FM and entrepreneur, he is one of South Africa’s biggest
social media influencer as he posts his opinions on Twitter, and keeping his
followers up-to-date with current issues in society both being serious and
entertaining. His success on social media is that he is always twitting,
commenting on other tweets and doing this every day. More importantly is that
he is accessible on his personal twitter account, making him a social media
influencer to look out for.

Kaite
Laird is a social media manager at www.Blinds.com,
she is an influencer in my opinion to look out for because she is an avid
blogger on her personal blog site which is www.hellokittie.com.
Kaite can help up-coming media entrepreneurs and students alike who have a keen
interest in Media P.R and communication, so Laird makes it as an influencer.

Lastly
we have a Social Media intellect one would say Mari Smith who specialises and
deals with Facebook. She is “I” would say a passionate “Facebooker” with
marketing expertise in which she tries to engage business people and ordinary
Facebook account holders to increase or rather maximise Facebook as a tool for
self and business exposure.

when was growing up thought social media influencer is calculated on how well the advert, poster is portrayed little did I know that de power is not as such the creativity but the power behind the social media influencers such as Dj fresh Kaite Laird,to just name the few

Social Media Influencers are people that are considered to have expertise in the media and communication industry, and have some popularity in this industry, your thought about the popularity of an advert, poster or any other form of adverts can be, "if executed deligently" an influence on its own for audiences to act on a cause such as donating blood or an awareness campaign poster or advert.
DeleteSo this people are only focusing on todays generations because they have access to internet through their gadgets, where it can be phones, laptops and so on. What about the older generations which grew up not having access to internet or having this gadgets, how are they being influence?
ReplyDeleteKhomanani walter maluleke, in regards to the older generation their influences should be then old school publications whereby they are influenced by the editor who could be close to their age group and have a matured sense of influence that is not always in the "lime light", as you know the older generation doesn't adjust well to change and they would rather stay with what has always worked for them

DeleteI must say the last three media influencers I had no idea of but it is really exciting to know of such people because one good day you might have to link up with one or even two of them to influence your publics in selling or promoting your brand. It is key for us as Public Relations students to be aware of social media influencers and on which social media platforms they are most popular in.
